Description:
This position can work from home most days. Position Summary: Coding and Compliance Manager has direct responsibility for clinical information functions and operations in the HIM Department. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Developing staff, Maintaining, Interpreting, Evaluating, Implementing and Coordinating HIM and clinical information policies and procedures and processes as related to specific job responsibilities. Manager, in conjunction with Director, ensures that all policies, procedures, and processes are in accordance with regulatory bodies to include but not limited to: Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, CMS (formerly HCFA), Federal Register regulations, HCA, JCAHO and OSHA. Manager provides leadership to staff for work distribution, coding/abstracting quality, productivity, assignment of appropriate DRGs for accurate reimbursement, and generation of reports for data request/studies. Position Requirements: Licensure/Certification/Registration: Registered Health Information Management Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Management Technician (RHIT), or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS).
Education:
Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management, Associate Degree in Health Information Management or related field.
Experience:
Prefer one to three years of supervising HIM or coding staff in acute care facility. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 1. Must be computer literate. 2. Must have strong interpersonal and communications skills (verbal and written). 3. Must have ability to read, analyze, interpret general business publications, professional journals, technical procedures, and regulatory requirements. 4. Must have the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations. 5. Must have proficiency in ICD-9-CM and CPT-4 coding guidelines and practices. III. Degree of Supervision Required: Minimal, manager must be capable of working exceptionally well on own. This position can work from home most days.
