Utilizes the nursing process based on an expanded knowledge base of pathophysiology and pharmacology to provide comprehensive health assessment, diagnosis and treatment of individuals with potential or actual cardiovascular health needs.  Clinical decisions are formulated in accordance with established Advanced Practice Nurse guidelines and/or in consultation and collaboration with supervising physicians.  As an advanced practice nurse, the Heart Failure Nurse Practitioner is additionally involved in education, consultation and research at various levels. Leads heart failure quality initiatives demonstrating constant improvement in patient outcomes as measured by CCMN, JCHAO and AHA guidelines. Leads, implements and supports telemetry and intermediate care staff development in the care and treatment of heart failure patients.

This position supports the mission of Presbyterian/St Luke's Medical Center of optimizing the quality of life of all those served by expanding beyond the traditional focus on medical needs to the needs of the whole person.  Works as a team member to assist the physician in performing the invasive cardiac procedures.  Duties include scrubbing, monitoring and X-Ray operation.  Performs ancillary duties related to the job such as QC, inventory and stocking as assigned by the supervisor.  Provides all customers with the service/tests needed in a safe, friendly and efficient manner.  The Cardiovascular Technologist's aim is to provide quality health care in the area of coronary angiography and cardiac or other vascular procedures as required by the Cardiovascular Department.  When need arises, will perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

 Position Summary:   This position supports the mission of North Suburban Medical Center of optimizing the quality of life of all those served by expanding beyond the traditional focus on medical needs to the needs of the whole person.  Operates an echocardiography machine to record and assess wall motion, valvular function, and kinesis of the heart, for use in the diagnosis of cardiac disorders and valvular disorders.  Assists with Stress Testing and other non-invasive cardiopulmonary diagnostic testing procedures upon the request of the physician and according to departmental demands.  Other ancillary duties related to the position  may include, but are not limited to, participation in Quality assurance projects related to departmental activities, inventory and  stocking of supplies in the various locations that testing is performed in, entering patient data and charges daily upon completion of the test, preparing exercise data and related paperwork for physician interpretation and processing.  Position requires taking call to cover times not regularly staffed by the department ensuring 24 hour a day echo coverage.
