 Position Summary:   This position supports the mission of Presbyterian/St Luke's Medical Center of optimizing the quality of life of all those served by expanding beyond the traditional focus on medical needs to the needs of the whole person.  Under the supervision of the Radiologist and the supervision of the lead technologist, performs ultrasound procedures in accordance with established protocols for patients ages neonate through geriatric.  Responsible for maintaining expert technical and patient-care skills and provide quality diagnostic results.  When need arises, will perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

 The Ultrasound Tech performs diagnostic sonographic examinations utilizing ultrasonic equipment in various modes and techniques to locate, evaluate and record pertinent anatomical, pathological and functional data.  The position's tasks and responsibilities include:

 
·Performs diagnostic procedures applying prescribed methods of ultrasound technique.

·Produces diagnostic images using Doppler, abdominal or pregnancy ultrasound.

·Selects transducer and adjusts equipment controls according to organ to be examined, depth of field and other specifications of test.

·Explains procedures to patients and addresses their concerns.

·Keys test data and patient information into computer to maintain record of test results.

·Assists physician with ultrasound guided biopsies and/or invasive procedures.

·Maintains and calibrates equipment.

·Monitors, records and communicates as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems. 

·Utilizes knowledge of age specific needs of patient in performance of duties and responsibilities.

·Orients and mentors new staff members.

·Provides a safe environment for administering contrast material.

·Assists with transporting patients.

·Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

 Position Summary:   This position supports the mission of The Medical Center of Aurora/Centennial Medical Plaza of optimizing the quality of life of all those served by expanding beyond the traditional focus on medical needs to the needs of the whole person.  The Ultrasonographer III  performs diagnostic ultrasound procedures, operates ultrasound equipment, develops film, and prepares the room with the necessary equipment and supplies for the procedure.  Is able to provide care to his/her assigned patients and assures a safe patient care environment.  Maintains technical skills and is responsible for the use of equipment to minimize hazards and maximize patient safety.  Secondary duties include clerical duties, receptionist, answering phones, scheduling patients, ordering supplies, stocking the department, maintaining files and general cleaning.  Assists in collecting data for PI monitors and conducting QC on equipment.
