 I.    Position Summary:    
    
The Multi-skilled Technician demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary in a cross trained role as a unit secretary.  The Multi Skilled Technician performs delegated duties consistent with his/her scope of practice, under the supervision of the RN and assists with direct patient care; functions within the philosophy and overall plan of care delivery at  SMC.  
  
 II. Unit Description:  
The Neuroscience Unit (NSU) has a 20-bed unit with 16 private rooms and 2 semiprivate rooms. The Spine Unit is a 20 bed unit with 12 private rooms and 4 semiprivate rooms. Our staff rotates between the two units. The NSU patient focus is any type of neuro diagnosis (both surgical and medical). We are a JC accredited Stroke unit and have 3 beds for intensive neuro diagnostic monitoring (INDM) for seizure patients as well. We have basic telemetry for our stroke patients. We also see ENT, Interventional Radiology, some Plastics (reconstructive) and Medical overflow. The Spine unit includes both Neuro and Ortho spine surgeon patients and Medical overflow. We support Swedish's Values and Standards through special programs to reward staff that receives compliments from our patients in addition to sending patients thank you cards for choosing Swedish when they are discharged, as well as calling them at home after they are discharged to follow-up on patient care.
